Remembering September 11th

On this upcoming September 11th of 2007, you can honor those innocent victims who were murdered in New York City, Pennsylvania and Virginia by Muslim terrorists six years ago on that date. You can honor their families and friends who continue to endure the pain of their losses. You can honor the many lives lost since that time in defense of your freedoms. All you need do is to remember to fly the flag on September 11th.

The Congress of the United States has designated September 11th as Patriots Day. The President has issued a proclamation calling upon government officials and the people of the United States to observe the day by displaying the flag of the United States “at half-staff from their homes,” as the occasion is a day of remembrance for honoring the dead. Because most flags used for home display are not designed to be flown at half-staff, an accepted alternative has been suggested of attaching a black ribbon or streamer to the top of the flag, the same width and length as the red and white stripes on the flag.
